When you are in a place called Bayou Lafourche in Cajun Country, you would expect to find a great Louisiana Gumbo. Well that’s exactly what I found. Bayou Lafourche is in Lafourche Parish, less than an hour away from New Orleans. >> More information on Lafourche Parish.
Crabby Crab is a fairly new restaurant, but they do know how to make a very good Louisiana Gumbo. They have a Seafood & Okra Gumbo and a Chicken & Andouille Gumbo. Both are priced the same. $4.95 for a cup and $8.95 for a bowl. I ordered the Chicken & Andouille Gumbo. Even though the name of the restaurant says seafood, they serve several other types of food, and since I’m not a fan of okra in my gumbo I decided to order the Chicken
& Andouille Gumbo. Here is what I found. It has a medium roux with a very good Gumboroma. There was plenty of chicken and only a little Andouille. The spice level was excellent and it left a wonderful after burn. The rice was hot but, as usual, didn’t add anything to the gumbo.
Crabby Crab is a couple of miles away from the Bayou Lafourche Convention & Visitors Bureau so when you want a very good gumbo in Lafourche Parish stop by the visitor’s center and let the staff show you what else you can do there.
