It’s not unusual to see a wide variety of exotic animals like tigers, giraffes and elephants at the Baton Rouge Zoo. After all, that’s one of the reasons it’s the #1 year-round family attraction in the area. But at this time of the year, you can see the animals not only in the flesh (and fur), but in lights!
ZooLights is a special holiday tradition in Baton Rouge. During the month of December, visitors flock to the zoo to see the more than 50 larger-than-life light displays of some of their favorite animals, including tigers, giraffes, elephants, lions, gorillas, alligators and more. Also on display are lighted Holiday themed exhibits like giant snowmen, trains, toy soldiers, and Santa himself in his sleigh, with his trusty reindeer, of course! If you love holiday lighting displays as much as I do, or you just want to get in the Holiday spirit, ZooLights is definitely the place to be!
Besides ZooLights' incredible light displays, there are games and crafts for the kids to enjoy. The zoo is also running their popular Art Gone Wild event again this year, and from December 12 – December 16 visitors can cast their votes and determine who they think should win in each category. (You can also vote on ZooLights' facebook page!)
Zoolights runs from December 1- 30. The gates are open from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Adult tickets are $5.00, Ages 2 – 12 are $3.00 and tickets for seniors are only $2.00.
